The North West Ambulance Service is urging people to be careful in the snowy conditions - as pavements and pathways have become hazardous.

Vulnerable and elderly people are being advised to stay indoors and keep warm wherever possible - especially as there may be more demand on emergency services than usual.

People are being asked to be patient if calling 999, as ambulances won't be able to travel as quickly in the current snowy conditions.

The service has assured people that it is well staffed, and has mountain rescue teams across the region on standby.
