Polishing the jewels at Blackpool's Tower Ballroom

Countless waltzes, foxtrots and tangos eventually take their toll on the floors of Blackpool's iconic Tower Ballroom.

This year the venue is celebrating its 125th birthday and staff will spend hours painstakingly sanding and polishing the famous dance floor.

The Tower Ballroom was built to the designs of Frank Matcham who also designed Blackpool Grand Theatre.

The Ballroom's famous Wurlitzer organ is to get an overhaul too, with plans to recruit a new organist, when the current organist retires.
