Police appeal for information in hopes of identifying a man found dead on New Brighton beach
Police are continuing to appeal for information to help identify a man found dead in New Brighton on Sunday 23 December.
At around 4.15pm a call was made reporting that a man's body had been found in water near Fort Perch Rock. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem could not establish the man's cause of death, and is still being treated as unexplained.
Detectives have been making extensive enquiries in the hopes of identifying the man, who is believed to be in his mid to late 30s.
The man has a heart tattoo on his right shoulder with the name 'Clare', and a scar on his right cheek.
He is described as white, around 6ft tall, clean shaven, with black hair. When found, he was wearing a new-looking blue Nike trainer on one foot, two pairs of black tracksuit bottoms, a red Sprayway mackintosh-style jacket with red torso and black arms.
Several layers were also worn underneath the jacket, including a dark coloured Adidas sweatshirt and dark coloured Adidas tracksuit top. The man was also wearing two silver chains with a Crucifix on each, and carrying a LFC fob on a set of keys.
