Footage released of "shocking and brazen attack" on cash-in-transit driver

A cash-in-transit driver was hit over the head with a hammer during a terrifying robbery outside a Home Bargains store in Manchester.

The vicious attack on Ashton Old Road in Clayton was captured on CCTV.Footage shows the driver being ambushed in broad daylight by two hammer-wielding thugs as he walks back towards the store from his delivery van.

The men, who were armed with a claw hammer and a lump hammer, repeatedly hit him over the head and body with the weapons before snatching his cash case and running away.

According to police, they jumped in a grey Audi A3, which was driven off towards Ashton-under-Lyne.

The terrified driver was wearing protective clothing and escaped uninjured.

The incident happened at around 2.20pm on December 3.
