The family of four children from Salford killed in an arson attack are asking local people to join them in a vigil this evening to mark the first anniversary of their deaths.

Demi Pearson, 15, Brandon, eight, and sisters Lacie, seven, and Lia, three, died after their home in Jackson Street in Walkden was set alight.

Horse-drawn carriages carried the children's specially-made coffins in a procession from their home last September, after the conclusion of a murder trial.

The children's mother, Michelle Pearson, was too ill to attend her children's funeral and has been in hospital ever since.

Zak Bolland, 23, and David Worrall, 25, were both given four life sentences in May after being found guilty of four counts of murder at Manchester Crown Court.

Bolland's girlfriend Courtney Brierley, 20, was found guilty of four counts of manslaughter and was sentenced to 21 years in a young offenders’ institution. She has lodged an appeal against her conviction.
