Man charged with murder over pub death
A man's been charged with murder after another man died following an assault in a pub.
Policer say they were called to The Bear’s Paw on Market Street in Hindley on Saturday 15 September to reports that a man had been assaulted.
He was taken to hospital - but died three days later.
The deceased has since been formally identified as 45-year-old Lee Christy from Wigan.
His family said he was a well-loved father, son and brother, who "would give you his last penny."
46 year old Derek Bentham of Smithwood Avenue, Hindley, has been charged with murder.
He will appear before Wigan Magistrates Court today.
