Police treating fire at Liverpool's 'iconic' Littlewoods Pools building as arson

Police say a Fire at the landmark Littlewoods building in Liverpool 'believed to be a case of deliberate ignition'.

Firefighters worked overnight to bring the fire under control, and stopped it from spreading beyond the right wing of the building.

A structural engineer from Liverpool City Council has assessed the building and said they "have no concerns over its structural integrity at this time."

Merseyside Police say arson is suspected and have appealed for witnesses.

Nobody was injured in the blaze but fire crews will remain on scene over the next 24 hours to carry out damping down operations.
