Man dies after car crashes during a police pursuit

A man has died after a car crashed during a police pursuit.

Greater Manchester Police are searching for a man who fled the scene of the collision, which happened in Denton at about 12.45pm on Tuesday.

A force spokesman said officers had attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle but the car failed to stop and, during a short pursuit, collided with several other cars.

A man died at the scene.

The force has not confirmed whether the man who died had been in one of the vehicles involved in the collision.

A man and woman who were in the car were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while another man ran from the scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).
