A beach along the south coast of the Isle of Man is closed following a suspected diesel pollution.

Isle of Man Coastguard closed Port Erin beach below the High Water yesterday morning.

Harbours staff were alerted by Port Erin Commissioners after they heard of the pollution and the Coastguard attended the area to assess the situation.

The lower part of the beach has a light film of diesel, with other areas affected on the sea surface in the bay, close inshore to the beach.

IOM Coastguard say beach conditions will be monitored over the next couple of tides and the closure will be lifted as soon as possible.
