Police say they're 'on the ball' for the World Cup semi-final
Greater Manchester police say they'll be out in force ahead of England's World Cup semi-final with Croatia. The announcement comes as the council host a screening of the game at Castlefield Bowl.
An increased police presence will also been seen across Greater Manchester’s town centres for those watching the fixture in pubs and bars.:
It follows incidents in the city centre following England's win at the weekend including people climbing onto a police van.
Chief Superintendent Graeme Openshaw said “not only this dangerous but this is also stopping people from doing an important job.
“Our goal is ultimately to make sure you are safe and we will not tolerate abusive or anti-social behaviour of any kind."
