The family of a shop worker who was shot dead in a car park nine years ago have offered a £10,000 reward to catch his killers.

Junaid Khan was 21 when he died of bullet wounds near a doctor’s surgery in Oldham in July, 2009.

Junaid’s sister Raheela Durrani named her son after his late uncle.

She says their father’s health was failing and he wanted to see justice served.

Raheela said: “I strongly believe that there are people out there who have some evidence, but felt they could not come forward at the time. Perhaps they feel they can do now?"

“Since Junaid left us, nothing has been the same. Every time one of his many death anniversaries pass us by, we break a little more inside. We wonder whether justice will ever be served?"

What do we know?

Junaid was walking to meet up with his girlfriend and some friends near Block Lane surgery in Chadderton in 2009.

A gunman fired 17 bullets from a sub-machine gun at him.

A stolen Mitsubishi Shogun 4X4 was found burnt out later.

Detective Chief Inspector James Faulkner said: “It’s nine years since the brutal murder of Junaid Khan. That’s nine years of pain for a family grieving the loss of their loved one, who would have turned 30 last month, with his killers never having been brought to justice. Despite this passing of time, the determination of both the family and Greater Manchester Police to solve this crime has not diminished. As such, the case remains very much open and any new evidence we receive will be investigated fully by specialist detectives.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police - officers say it is "never too late to come forward".
