'Key witness' sought after man raped in Trafford alleyway

An investigation is underway after a man was raped in an alley in Trafford .

The victim, who is in his 20s, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police say he was walking along Cavendish Road in Stretford when he reached an alleyway near to North Lonsdale Street.

He was then approached by a man and raped.

Detectives are appealing for a potentially "key witness" to come forward.

A taxi driver is understood to have driven past the alley where the man was set upon. The attacker ran away when the vehicle drove past.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area around 1.30am on Sunday.

Detectives are examining CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries near where the attack took place.

Patrols have also been stepped up in the area.
