A man has been arrested under the Terrorism Act after suspicious items’ were found inside his house.

Specialist bomb disposal officers and anti-terror cops carried out a dawn raid at a house on Wildbrook Road in Little Hulton, Greater Manchester, at 7am on Wednesday May 9.

Greater Manchester Police said the items were assessed at the scene but stressed there is not thought to be any risk to the wider public.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a record or document containing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The charge is covered by section 58 of the Terrorism Act.

The man, who has not been identified, was also arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images, GMP said.

It is understood the images were discovered on a mobile phone.

Police said he remained in police custody for questioning.
