'We will love and miss him always': Family tribute to man found stabbed to death
A man found stabbed to death at a flat in Harpurhey has been named as William Phelan.
Detectives have launched a murder investigation after Mr Phelan, who family describe as "kind and gentle", was found with multiple stab wounds at a flat on Kilnside Drive on Monday morning.
His devastated family has now released a statement, saying “We can’t begin to imagine life without William. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend with a heart of gold."
The Tribute continued “He will be deeply missed and we would appeal to anyone who has any information, no matter how small, to please come forward and help get justice for William."
Police were called to Kilnside Drive shortly before 11am on Monday March 19 to reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
Officers attended and found Mr Phelan dead.
A murder probe was launched after a post-mortem exam revealed he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin, of Greater Manchester Police ’s major incident team, urged anyone with information to come forward.
“It’s now been three days since William was found and we are continuing to provide his loved ones with support at this incredibly difficult time,” he said.
“I met with William’s family earlier today and saw first-hand the pain and heartbreak that they are feeling as they come to terms with what happened. William’s death has left them truly devastated.
“We need to find answers for them and get the justice that they deserve and I would ask that anybody with any information that they believe can assist us contacts police urgently.”
