Manchester bomb victim's family to create special rose

A campaign has been launched to create a unique new rose in memory of Saffie-Rose Roussos - the youngest person to die in the Manchester Arena bombing.

Saffie’s mum, Lisa Roussos, has contacted the Royal Horticultural Society about the rose which she hopes will be a ‘beautiful and fitting tribute’.Mourners at Saffie’s funeral - the last of the 22 funerals to be held - carried a single red rose in her memory.

A crowdfunding appeal on the JustGiving website for £10,000 has now been launched by the family. The campaign would see Saffie’s roses sold for charity.

Mrs Roussos was at the Ariana Grande concert last May with eight-year-old Saffie and her older sister, Ashlee Bromwich. Both were badly injured.Launching the appeal Mrs Roussos wrote on the JustGiving appeal page:

Saffie, who lived with her family in Leyland, Lancashire, was hailed as a girl with a beautiful smile who loved dancing, gymnastics and music. She was one of the first to be publicly identified in the days after the attack.Saffie’s father, Andrew Roussos, described his daughter at her funeral as a ‘superstar in the making’ and said it was her dream to become famous
