Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany's plans for life after football are well underway as he graduated with a master's degree in business administration.

The 31-year-old has spent the last four years juggling playing for City and studying part-time at Alliance Manchester Business School as he plans for life after he hangs up his boots.

Despite picking up another injury in the 1-0 win against Newcastle, he isn't planning on retiring any time soon.

Not content with just winning titles with City, Kompany was determined to further his education.

The son of a Congolese political activist and a Belgian trade unionist, Kompany had always been told by his parents of the importance of education, regardless of how promising he was as a footballer.

And Kompany feels his degree is a fitting tribute to his late mother.

As part of his degree Kompany had to do a dissertation project where he looked at how professional football clubs in the Premier League can benefit from home game advantage and achieve game-changing levels of improvement.

Despite finding the course a 'huge personal challenge' the City defender was given a distinction for the project which saw him interview 25 fooballers.
