The man driving the only Christmas Day bus in Manchester
It’s normally the busiest bus route in Europe, but for one day of the year the Wilmslow Road Corridor practically falls silent.
All except for a handful of dedicated drivers who make sure passengers can get from A to B.
Chris Sinclair is one of the four bus drivers sacrificing Christmas Day with their loved ones to transport people along the number 43 bus route.
The Stagecoach bus will be ferrying holidaymakers, staff and revellers between the Airport and city centre..
The 48-year-old says it’s ‘weird’ being so quiet on the roads, adding he prefers it when it’s busier, as his day goes quicker.
But he doesn’t mind working too much as he ‘gets bored’ sitting at home, and would rather be out and about.
Chris also has a personal reason for wanting to connect people with their families over the festive period.
He’ll be celebrating Christmas with his family tomorrow (Boxing Day), when they congregate at his sister’s house.
The 43 bus route will be running every hour from Manchester Airport to Piccadilly.
The first bus of the day will depart at 9.10am, with the last bus departing at 8.10pm.
Buses travelling in the opposite direction, from Piccadilly to Manchester Airport will run every hour from 8.05am until 7.05pm.
