Police begin manhunt after three children die in fire

Police are searching for the killer of three children after a suspicious fire.

Firefighters were called to a mid-terraced house in Jackson Street, Worsley, Greater Manchester just before 5am.

A murder investigation into the deaths of the 14-year-old girl, eight-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl has begun.

The children's mother, aged 35, and a three-year-old girl are critically ill in hospital.

Two people managed to escape the blaze before crews arrived but five more needed to be rescued.

The 14-year-old victim was also named locally as Demi Pearson.

A large police presence is at the scene, with both ends of Jackson Street cordoned off and one end blocked by large steel barriers.

Forensic investigators are in the area and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service vehicles are parked in adjacent streets.
