CCTV appeal after violence at Burnley friendly match

Police have released CCTV images of four people they would like to speak to following a fight that caused a friendly at Burnley FC to be abandoned at half-time.

Trouble broke out 38 minutes into the friendly game at Turf Moor on August 5th between Burnley Football Club and Hannover 96.

Fans of both teams were involved in the disorder in the David Fishwick stand, where violence was used causing £9,000 worth of damage was caused.

Officers would now like to speak to the four people pictured – all thought to be Burnley fans - as part of the ongoing enquiries.

DC Anthony Atkins, of Burnley CID, said:

The Police have so far have arrested two men.

A 21 year-old German national, was released no charge. The second, aged 23 and from Burnley, was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has since been released under investigation.
