Isle of Man's new living wage approved

A motion to set a national living wage for Isle of Man residents has been approved by Tynwald parliament.

The new rate will be £8.61 per hour, but is voluntary.

Minimum wage is currently £7.50 an hour, with the new living wage calculated by the island's government to allow residents to meet basic needs.

This is the first time Tynwald has approved a national living wage for residents.
