Children carried 22 pink balloons at the front of the Manchester Day parade to remember the victims of last month's bomb at the Manchester Arena.

Thousands of onlookers broke into spontaneous applause as members of Greater Manchester's emergency services joined the start of the march.

Now in its eighth year, organisers say the event aims to encapsulate the city's pride, diversity, community spirit, strength and solidarity.

The colourful parade brought together 2,000 people from community groups across the city to celebrate Manchester people and their shared history.
