Teenager murdered in 'brutal attack' in Wigan

A murder investigation has been launched after an 18-year-old woman was killed in a 'brutal attack' in Wigan.

Her body was found with head injuries at 2.30am on Saturday at Orrell Water Park.

Police were called by a woman's concerned family after she did not come home from college on Friday afternoon.Friends said Orrell Water Park was the last place where they knew she had been.

The body has not yet been formally identified.

Police say they received a report to two young women allegedly being followed by two men in the area on Thursday. They are appealing for anyone who may have information about similar incidents to report it.
