Petition calls on Tatton MP George Osborne to 'pick one job'
A petition signed by more than 175,000 people calling for Tatton MP George Osborne to stick to one job has been handed into his constituency office.
The petition was sparked by the former Chancellor taking up the editorship of the Evening Standard newspaper in London.
The petition, which calls on Mr Osborne either to stand down as an MP or to give up his new role at the Evening Standard, was started by one of Osborne's constituents, Diana Simkins.
She cited concerns about Mr Osborne’s ability to represent his Cheshire constituency while holding down a job in London editing a daily newspaper.
The petition claims that ‘standing up for constituents’ should always be an MP's number one priority.
