CCTV appeal over "callous theft" from elderly woman
Police have released CCTV images of a man and woman they want to talk to, after an 84-year-old woman had hundreds of pounds stolen from her bank account in Nelson.
The incident happened between 12.30pm and 1.00pm on Tuesday, March 7 when the pensioner used a cash machine inside Barclays Bank on Manchester Road.
She was spotted by a man and woman who pretended to stand in the queue while the man observed her entering her PIN number.
They then followed the woman to Age UK on Market Street where the victim realised that her purse had been stolen.
Moments later the man is thought to have gone back into the bank and used the card to withdraw around £700 in cash.
