Shocking videos of inmates partying at Hindley Prison
A jailed Liverpool crack dealer has posted shocking videos and photos of a wild Christmas party with fellow inmates on Instagram.
Convicted robber Isiah Facey, 26, from Toxteth, uploaded footage of what appeared to show drug-taking and bare-knuckle brawls at HMP Hindley in Wigan - recently slammed by prisons inspectors as having one of the worst jail regimes they had ever seen.
Two videos on Facey's Instagram account, titled Izzytoxth, show them dancing and making gun signs, while one lag repeatedly shouts: “This is how we do it Christmas in Hindley boys!”
The red Santa hat-wearing inmates posed for group pictures, with Facey adding the captions “Crimbo day. In hmp hindley” and “The team crimbo day”.
Other pictures of what looks like cannabis joints are accompanied with the caption: “Manz chillin like am on road ha ha”
A further pic shows another lag smoking what appears to be a joint, with Facey adding: “Jay wid a big boxin day ed”
Even though mobile phones are supposed to be strictly forbidden in prison, the convicts can be seen boasting about their time behind bars.
One video features a red-eyed inmate, who says he is “loving the buzz”, smoking what seems to be a joint, to the amusement of sniggering pals.
The person filming the clip jokes it contains “Bobby” – slang for heroin – and crack, but then reveals it is the dangerous ‘legal high’ spice.
Another clip shows bare-knuckle fights, with smiling convicts unleashing a flurry of punches at each other, while being roared on with shouts of “do him”.
Under one Instagram picture is the comment: "Prison? Looks like a holiday camp ha ha". Facey replies: "That's cus it is" with smiley faces.
Facey was part of a gang who stormed a man’s home in Wavertree and held him at knifepoint in a bid to steal his cannabis plants in 2010.
The thug was found guilty of robbery – his third conviction for the offence – and locked up for four years and six months in 2011.
The then 20-year-old asked for 11 other burglaries to be taken into consideration and told the court he was trying to change his ways.
But in December 2015 he was jailed for three years and nine months for possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and driving offences.
The Instagram account was taken down soon after the Ministry of Justice was contacted for comment.
HMP Hindley was slammed for having one of the worst daily routines inspectors said they had ever seen in a report last year.
Inmates were said to spend an “unjustifiable” amount of time in cells, regularly being locked up for more than 24 hours. Inspectors remarked it was often easier for inmates to get hold of drugs than clean clothes, bedsheets or books.
Peter Clarke, Chief Inspector of Prisons, said “fundamental change” was needed following a July visit to the category C jail.
Inspectors found a high number of assaults and fights, easy access to drugs with 49% of prisoners saying they could obtain drugs and 16% developing a drug problem in the prison, dirty residential wings with filthy landings and prisoners struggling to get showers, clean clothing, bedding and cleaning materials.
The Prison Service confirmed the Instagram account had been removed and action was taken to seize the mobile phone used to film the footage.
