Watch as two-year-old sees his favourite cartoon characters for the first time
This is the adorable moment two-year-old Patrick Heaton, who is registered blind, saw Shrek, Donkey and Kung Fu Panda for the first time at the DreamWorks Lights exhibition in Liverpool.
The toddler, who was diagnosed with cerebral visual impairment (CVI) at six months old was overwhelmed with joy as he looked at the bright figures.
His condition means the part of his brain that processes images doesn’t work but there is no problem with his eyes.
The brightness of the lanterns meant he was able to see them for the first time.
Parents Lily and Damien, who live in Mold, started Peekaboo Patrick, to raise money for their son’s treatment shortly after doctors broke the heart-breaking news of their son’s condition.
