Royals attend memorial service for Duke of Westminster

Members of the Royal Family have attended a memorial service for Major General Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, at Chester Cathedral.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were among 1,400 guests who were led by the 7th Duke of Westminster, the late Duke's widow, Natalia, Duchess of Westminster and their immediate family, together with staff and pensioners from the Grosvenor Estate.

The private service, was led by the Dean of Chester, the Very Revd Professor Gordon McPhate, with music from the cathedral choristers, Chester Male Voice Choir and the Manchester Brass Ensemble.The 7th Duke of Westminster read his father's favourite poem, If, by Rudyard Kipling. There were also readings by the late Duke's cousin and Prince William.

Lady Edwina Snow, the late Duke's second daughter read her own letter to her father.
