Blackpool has second best shoreline in the world
Blackpool has the second best shoreline in the world according to a new study.
The town's seven miles of golden sands was pipped to the top spot by Dubai.
The locations were rated based on the clarity of the horizon, sea colour, sand quality, cleanliness, interesting features, air quality and the weather.
The new study, commissioned by Royal Caribbean, was spearheaded by psychologist, Dr David Holmes.
He went about formulating a mathematical equation in a bid to scientifically prove which shoreline is the most seductive.
The seaside resort scored highly for its clean Blue Flag beaches and interesting features such as the world-famous Blackpool Tower, with only the British weather keeping it from the number one slot.
Others to make the top ten were Cape Town in South Africa, Cavelossim in India, Krabi in Thailand and Whitehaven Beach in Australia.Dr Holmes said:
