Police make fresh appeal after Aigburth murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Aigburth yesterday, Monday October 25, are issuing a further appeal to the public for information.

At around 10.20pm, a call was received of gunshots being heard and a man was seen lying in the street on Southwood Road. Police and ambulance attended and found a 30-year-old man, who had sustained gunshot wounds to his head, thigh and buttock. He was taken to hospital and was confirmed deceased shortly after 11pm.

A Home Office Post Mortem will take place later this afternoon to formally identify the man and establish his cause of death.

His next of kin have been informed. The victim is believed to originally come from the Croxteth area of Liverpool.

Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Holland said:

Police have also reiterated that the they don't 'initially believe' the two other Merseyside shootings that happened overnight are linked to this murder.
