A dog was tossed over a 7ft barbed wire fence into an RSPCA animal centre and then abandoned.

The female Saluki pooch, who had recently given birth to puppies, was visibly shaken from her ordeal.

She was found whimpering when animal care assistant Sally Pickup spotted her at the fire exit door of the centre in Rochdale at about 9.30am on Tuesday morning.

Deputy manager Chan Taylor said:

It’s clear the Saluki has recently had puppies as she’s producing milk, the animal charity said.

About 230 people have shared a Facebook post asking to trace the puppies and the people responsible for abandoning her.

The charity added on their RSPCA Rochdale Animal Centre Facebook page:

The post sparked anger and shock from the RSPCA’s followers.
