A tram was forced to come to a full stop after a motorist drove onto Metrolink tracks.

The silver Peugeot 206 became lodged on the line close to Barlow Moor Road station, at the junction with Hardy Lane in Chorlton.

Metrolink services were temporarily halted following the incident, on Sunday just before 2pm.

In a film clip, captured by a passenger, the car can be seen jammed on the opposite side of the tracks.

The motorist then leaves the vehicle and approaches the tram driver to ask for help.

He can later be seen walking back to his car before police arrive at the scene.
