Man loses fingers in meat cleaver attack

Police are investigating after a man lost his fingers in a knife attack in north Manchester.

Shortly before 10:20am on Thursday August 18, police were called by the ambulance service to Moston Lane East, Moston to reports that a 22-year-old man had been seriously assaulted.

It is believed that the man had been attacked somewhere nearby with a bladed weapon, possibly a machete or a meat cleaver, before walking to Moston Lane East and requesting assistance.

The man sustained very serious hand injuries during the attack and remains in hospital for treatment.

Police are currently working to identify exactly where the incident took place.
