Light aircraft crashes into a tree leaving pilot injured

A 67-year-old man was today taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries, including a broken leg, and head injuries, after the small aircraft he was flying crashed into some trees in Salford today.

The aircraft was a single-seater plane and the man was the only person on board.

The crash is likely to be the subject of an official investigation by The Air Accidents Investigation Branch, which investigates civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents within the UK.The plane hasn’t yet been described.

The aircraft crashed into trees on the east side of the Barton Aerodrome airfield and there are not believed to be any injuries to others or damage to properties in the area.
