Former UFC star Brendan Loughnane Wins MMA Grudge Match

After years of build up, the grudge match between Manchester MMA fighters Brendan Loughnane and Eden Newton was finally settled this weekend at the Tanko Fighting Championships in Trafford Park.

Fallowfield born Loughnane defeated Newton after a second round stoppage due to heavy punches, in what was a gritty main event in the inaugural fixture for Tanko. The win brings Loughnane’s record to 12 wins and 2 losses.

Speaking after the event, the former UFC fighter said:

Other fights on the night included Bolton’s Saul Rogers who scored a very convincing submission victory over fellow former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ contender Andre Winner- the fight being stopped in the first minute. Speaking to the media post fight, Rogers was very vocal about his desire to fight on the upcoming UFC card in Manchester this October.
