Wayne Rooney's home targeted while at his testimonial match

The home of footballer Wayne Rooney was targeted by masked raiders while he played his Manchester United testimonial match against Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Rooney lives in Prestbury with his wife Coleen and their three boys Kai, Klay and Kit.

The Manchester Evening News reported a helicopter and three police cars were in the scene of his home minutes after burglars set off the alarms.

Neighbours say the robbers set off sirens and lights, and described events as “something out of an action film”.

Cheshire Police confirmed they are investigating an attempted robbery at a house on Chelford Road in Prestbury at around 9pm on Wednesday 3rd August and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
