Teenage girl killed and four others injured in Rochdale car crash
A teenage girl has died and four other teenagers have been injured after an early hours crash in Rochdale.
Chloe Cockton, 16, was a passenger in a Renault Clio car when it collided with a pedestrian barrier near the town centre.
The crash happened near the junction with Mellor Street and Bury Road at around 2.20am on Sunday.
The 19-year-old male driver of the car is being treated in hospital for serious head injuries.
Two girls aged 17 and a boy aged 16, were also in the car and are being treated in hospital for their injuries.
The road was closed for over three hours while emergency crews attended to those injured.
Fire crews say they also attended the scene.
Police investigating the smash believe a black Hackney cab was present at the scene and are appealing to the driver to come forward to assist with enquiries.
