Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Ashton.

Shortly after 8pm on Friday 24 June 2016, two men armed with hammers entered Betfred at The Arcades, Warrington Street.

The men approached a member of staff and started banging on the desk with a hammer and demanding money.

The staff member handed the pair cash from the till and safe and they fled from the scene.

The first man was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a black hooded jacket with blue stripes on the sleeves and carrying a black bag with large union jack on.

The second man was described as wearing dark coloured jeans, a black hooded, white rimmed sunglasses, black trainers and black gloves.
