Renowned Isle of Man TT motorcycle racer Ryan Farquhar has returned to intensive care after crashing in the North West 200.

The Irish motorist received chest and pelvic injuries during the race on 12 May at Black Hill, where English rider Malachi Mitchell-Thomas died two days later on 14 May.

Karen Farquhar and daughters Mya and Keeley watched the accident on the big screens, which showed him crashing out and then being run over by fellow competitor Dan Cooper.

Cooper was sent to Causeway Hospital, Coleraine after he and Farquhar collided.

Farquhar was moved to general ward last week, but has now returned to intensive care in Belfast Royal Victoria despite looking well last week.

Ryan quit racing in 2012 after his uncle Trevor Ferguson died during the Manx Grand Prix, then returned to motorcycling in 2014.
