'Looking West' - Atlantic weather for rest of the week

Areas of rain-bearing cloud line up in the Atlantic, ready to move eastwards across the UK over the next few days

Over the last few weeks we've had a cold blast from the Arctic, followed by a spell of warmer, more Summery weather from the Mediterranean. Now it's the Atlantic's turn, as low pressure and weather fronts line up from the west.

Here's your (rather more unsettled outlook than of late) forecast for the rest of the week......

TUESDAY NIGHT:

Dry at first but cloud and showery outbreaks of rain will arrive through the evening.

During the second half of the night heavier rain will spread in from the west. Lows around 8°C.

WEDNESDAY:

Outbreaks of rain clearing during the morning, with sunny intervals and showers following.

Some of the showers will be heavy and slow moving, with a risk of thunder. Highs around 14°C.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY:

Remaining unsettled through this period, interspersed by dry and bright spells.

A dry start Thursday before rain arrives later in the day.

Sunshine and blustery, heavy showers on Friday, possibly thundery

Saturday could be particularly wet and perhaps very windy.
