Blind man jumping out of plane for charity
A man who is almost completely blind and has a fear of heights is jumping out of a plane for charity.
Danny Clarke, 30, will take part in a skydive from 15,000ft next month to raise cash for Henshaws Society for Blind People.
Danny, from Charlestown, Salford, says he was at a low point when he discovered the Trafford-based charity and they changed his life.
He’s preparing for a charity skydive in their honour - despite admitting a fear of heights - and has already raised £260 on his JustGiving page.
Danny’s eye condition, known as X Linked Retinitis Pigmentosa, significantly reduced his eyesight during childhood and has left him very little vision.
Despite being registered blind he is visiting the Black Knights Parachute Centre in Lancaster on June 12 and carrying out a jump.
He said:
He said he hasn’t got any techniques ready, he is ‘just going to deal with it while I’m falling’.Danny, who is training at Airkix indoor skydiving centre in Trafford, added:
The money raised by Danny will provide vital extra funding to Henshaws and is a way of him saying thank you to them for helping him.He said:
