TV drama Scott and Bailey to end after current series

ITV has confirmed that popular crime drama Scott & Bailey will come to an end after its current series.

Actors Suranne Jones and Lesley Sharp, who play detectives Rachel Bailey and Janet Scott, have recently hinted that the show could be drawing to an end.

ITV said it had been mutually agreed by all parties that the fifth series would be the last.

The series about two Manchester policewomen began in 2011 and returned with a three-part series on April 13.

Actress Suranne Jones came up with the idea with fellow former Coronation Street star Sally Lindsay who also plays Bailey's sister Alison.
