A woman and her dog were today rescued by Morecambe RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat and hovercraft. They'd been caught in the tide near Mill Lane, Bolton le Sands.

Crew members from the inshore lifeboat, were first on scene and they waded to the woman, who was by now up to her knees in water, before assisting her and her dog into the hovercraft.

The volunteer hovercraft crew then transferred them both to the shore at Redbank where an ambulance crew was waiting for them.

The Air Ambulance and members of the local coastguard team were also in attendance. The hovercraft and inshore lifeboat then returned to station.
