Liverpool to become 'autism-friendly' city
Liverpool is launching a bid to become one of the countries first autism friendly cities.
A number of businesses are making changes to give people with the condition better access to the cities attractions. It's estimated 1 every hundred people have the condition.
The project run is by Merseyside charity Autism Together and Autism Adventures UK who claim many people with the condition feel excluded from their own communities through a lack of understanding by others.
The World museum signed up and are offering special learning sessions for children with autism with specially trained staff. Jennifer Smale took part with her son Oliver and told us these activities are really important as autism is often dismissed as 'naughty behaviour.'
Other autism champions include:
Everton FC
Liverpool John Lennon airport
National Museums Liverpool
Liverpool One shopping centre
