Dog who helps owner with seizures wins hero award
A dog from Bolton has won a national 'Pet Hut Hero of the month' award after helping her owner manage her seizures.
Andrea Lowe, who lives in Tyldesley, suffers from non-epileptic attack disorder and can have up to 10 seizures a day.
Her dog, Scout, a German shepherd/Rottweiler cross, is a support dog home-trained by her owner.
Andrea does not qualify for a trained support animal because her seizures are not caused by epilepsy.
When Andrea suffers an attack, Scout puts her paws on her to help bring her round and whines and barks to alert others that Andrea is in trouble.
The 34-year-old entered Scout for the competition run by The Pet Hut after seeing it advertised on Facebook.
Scout will be awarded a pet hamper and Andrea hopes the award will give her home-trained puppy some recognition.
