Manchester band James denied top spot by Adele

Adele has denied rock band James their first number one album in 18 years.

25 has kept the top spot ahead of James, who were leading earlier in the week by just under 2,000 sales, to notch a 12th non-consecutive week at number one.

The Manchester band's Girl At The End Of The World had to settle for second place, pushing Justin Bieber's Purpose down to third, according to the Official Charts Company.

Jess Glynne's I Cry When I Laugh took fourth, while Iggy Pop's 17th album Post Pop Depression debuted at five, giving him his first ever UK top 10.

In the singles chart, Mike Posner's I Took A Pill In Ibiza has logged a second week in the top spot.

At the mid-week spot, it was 568 sales behind Sigala's collaboration with Imani and DJ Fresh, Say You Do, but has pushed through to sell 11,000 more copies than its second place competitor, Lukas Graham's 7 Years.

American singer Posner said:

Despite a fantastic early start, Sigala's track takes fifth place, with Fifth Harmony's Work From Home at three and Zara Larsson's Lush Life at four.

Now That's What I Call Music!'s latest collection, Now 93, has become the fastest selling album of 2016 so far, beating David Bowie's Blackstar.

The compilation album, featuring songs like Zayn's Pillowtalk and even Bowie's Heroes, shifted 247,000 copies in its first week, versus 146,000 sales of Bowie's final album, which came out two days before his death in January.
