Isle of Man footballer aims high for Limerick FC
An Isle of Man footballer has had a successful kick-off as the new centre back for Limerick FC.
Seamus Sharkey, 25, was signed to the League of Ireland Division One team after a 45-minute trial. He has started the first two league games scoring on his debut, becoming an instant fan favourite.
Dave Crennell, who has connections to the Isle of Man, recommended Sharkey after receiving a call from Limerick FC owner, Pat Sullivan, who needed a player the following day.
Seamus previously defended for the Isle of Man team, Ellan Vannin, who are playing in the Europeada Football tournament in June.
He's contracted with Limerick FC until the season finale in October.
