Allegedly drunk driver found asleep in field next to M62

An allegedly drunk motorist was found sleeping at the wheel of his car in a field after driving off the M62.

Police believe the man fell asleep after a crash. He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving at around 9am on Saturday, March 5.

The car had been spotted by traffic police on the M62 after crashing down the motorway embankment on the westbound carriageway, close to the junction 12 at Salford.
