The successful candidates will be paid £7.50 to £8 an hour to play with the kitties, develop games for them and keep their environment interesting, as well as grooming and feeding them, cleaning out litter trays, washing and cleaning bedding.

Applicants must be prepared to work around-the-clock shifts, both when the cafe is open from 9am to 9pm every day and when it is closed, according to an advert posted on Facebook.

The role is one of several to be filled before the quirky cafe opens this spring, along with cafe manager, assistant manager, front of house and barista positions.

Sisters Ellie and Sarah Close announced plans to open the cafe last year and have now launched a recruitment drive on Facebook as they get ready to launch the venture.
