Teacher jailed for grooming former pupil

A teacher who admitted grooming and sexually abusing a former pupil at a school in Bacup has today been sentenced at Burnley Crown Court.

Andrew Willson, 48, of Church Hill, Hollowell, Northampton, was jailed for 20 months and given 10 years on the sex offenders’ register after he pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault. The offences took place between 1995 and 1996 while the victim was aged between 14 and 15 years of age.

He carried out the offences when he was a Drama teacher at Fearns High School in Bacup.
