A woman has been jailed for trafficking and exploiting another woman.

Margit Biddel, 57, from Old Trafford was jailed for three years for exploiting a vulnerable 22-year-old Romanian woman. She had previously been found guilty of arranging or facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

After almost six months of suffering at the hands of Biddel, the victim managed to get a message to a friend in Hungary.

The victim had been encouraged to travel to the UK and, once in the country, Biddel used psychological aggression to intimidate and control the victim, and cut off her ties with her family and friends.

The young woman found herself completely isolated from anyone she knew, unable to speak English and in fear that she or her family may be harmed.

Biddel arranged her transport to the Piccadilly area of Manchester each night where she was attacked and thrown out of a car as she worked as a prostitute.

The victim earned up to £400 a night, most of which was taken from her by Margit Biddel.

In August 2015, police in Hungary were altered to the case. They contacted Greater Manchester Police who arrested Biddel at her home and removed the victim.
